Track4U
AI calorie tracker that uses GPT-5.2 Vision to analyze food photos. BYOK model - bring your own OpenAI key, no subscriptions, pay only for what you use (~$0.01-0.03 per scan).
Built Track4U, an open-source AI-powered calorie tracking app designed to make food logging effortless. The core philosophy: tracking food is tedious, and most people give up because it takes too long. Track4U solves this with a simple approach — snap a photo and move on. The app uses OpenAI's GPT-5.2 Vision model to analyze food photos and instantly return nutritional information including calories, protein, carbs, and fats. Instead of searching databases, measuring portions, and logging every ingredient, users simply take a photo and get their macros in seconds. Implemented a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model where users provide their own OpenAI API key, which is encrypted and stored securely. This eliminates subscription fees — users pay only for actual usage directly to OpenAI (typically $0.01-0.03 per scan depending on image size). Built AI-guided goal setting that helps users establish personalized nutrition targets based on their health objectives. Created simple, no-bloat progress tracking with clean charts to visualize nutrition trends over time. Added searchable meal history for reviewing past entries. The target isn't 100% accuracy — it's 70-80% accuracy with minimal friction. A rough estimate you actually log beats a perfect entry you skip. Consistency over precision is the guiding principle.
